For a single handle faucet, the supply lines are built in and if there is mounting hardware, it is usually placed directly over the lines. To install a new two-handle faucet set, you will need to remove the old one. Underneath the sink, the water supply lines should be disconnected. Individual supply lines for hot and cold water each will be attached to its own valve with a nut. Should a valve leak or drip with the water supply closed, this indicates that the valve is defective.

Push the hose out from the top of the kitchen sink (Figure 10a) and rest it on a bowl under the sink (Figure 10b). Look at the top of the kitchen sink and count the number of components that make up the faucet. Where the faucet will be installed is almost as important as the actual faucet.
